From The Principal's Office:
- New registrations for the 2008-09 school year. We are once again very fortunate to enjoy so many new faces on our campus this year. We have added 68 new students, mostly in our Nursery, Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes. Demand for our Nursery class was so strong that we opened up a second section in September. Overall, our new students are from both current CSSW families as well as new CSSW families.
- CSSW welcomes the following new teachers to our staff: Ms. Kwang-Yu Chin (Nursery-A), Ms.Hui-Wen Zheng (Nursery-B), Ms. Li-Rong Chen (PreK-B), Ms. XiaoBin Zhang (2-B), Ms.Biao Cai (3-B), Ms. Yenyu Liu (6th), Ms. Lin Liu (9th) and Mr. Jing Lu (10th). We also welcome back veteran teachers Ms. Amanda Liao (K) and Ms. Ann Lin (2A) after a one-year absence.
- The 2008-09 School Directory is now available. Please pick up your copy at the School Office (one copy per family).
- Photo Day is 12/13/08. Please note that we are moving up the Annual Photo Day instead of during the Spring semester. The class photos will be used in the 2009 Student Yearbook. Please make every effort to make sure your children attend classes that day. A step-up from normal casual attire would be appropriate.

Academic Activities:
- Our annual school-wide Written Composition Contest took place on 11/15/08. Most students from 2nd - 12th Grade participated in this important exercise to improve their written language proficiency. The contest awards will be announced at our New Year's Ceremonies on 1/31/09.
- We are now offering a new Chinese I class to provide a supplementary hour of practical Chinese language practice. The 4th Grade teacher Janet Lee Mancino teaches this class from 11:00 - 12:00 and is open to students of all ages.

Cultural Activities:
- Two new culture classes this year: Yoga, led by Ms. Mei-Sang Hsieh from 9:00 - 10:00, and Storytelling which is led by Ms. Ann Lin from 11:00 - 12:00.
- CSSW officers and members represented our school at the OCA Annual Dynamic Achievers Award Banquet on 11/15/08. For more information, see www.oca-whv.org
- CSSW Seminars: "Current Developments in College Admission" led by Mr. Jose Flores, Vice President of Enrollment, Manhattanville College, 11/22/08 at 11:00 - 12:00 in the Parents Lounge.

Parents' Association:
- The Opening Meeting of the Parents Association meeting was held on 9/13/08 in the Parents Lounge. This year's Co-Chairs are Summe Chan, Rose Eng and Joyce Lim. The first PA event of the new school year was a celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, then followed by a Halloween parade on 10/18/08.
- The Parents Association will sponsor the Annual Christmas Party on 12/20/08. More details to follow.
