From The Principal's Office:
- We have begun a major redesign of the school’s website and hope to have it online in the next month or two. It will have complete Chinese and English versions. Please direct any comments or suggestions to Fong-Yi Wei at 914-428-4600 or fwei@csswny.org
- We welcome 41 new students to our school this year. Many of the new students are in PK, Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
- In order to increase our student enrollment, the Board of Directors has authorized a Student Referral Tuition Discount Program effective immediately. Any current CSSW family that provides a referral to a new family directly resulting in the matriculation of a new student shall be entitled to a tuition discount of up to 20% of an individual full-time student tuition for the upcoming school year. Please come to the school office for further details. The Board has carefully considered this issue and believes that such a program will serve the best long-term interests of our school.
- Upcoming newss:
- The acclaimed documentary program "Becoming American" will be shown in installments in the Parents Lounge beginning 10/25/03 from 10:00-12:00.

Academic Activities:
- Our new language and culture class teachers have all made a successful transition into our school. They include Joannie Yeh (Asst. Teacher PK), Kwei-Yin Chen (4A Grade), Fong-Yi Wei (7 Grade), Stephanie Liu (8 Grade), Ann Tsao (10-11 Grade) and Pao-Hsiu Cheng (Advanced Craft). We have added a new Arts class for the upper grade during Period 1.
- We are seeking to maximize student participation this year in the Written Essay, Public Speaking and Dictionary contests. Teachers will be asked to prepare their students well advance for these newss. In addition, all students from Grade 4 and above have been asked to purchase the Far East Chinese/English Dictionary for use throughout the year. Dictionaries may be purchased through the school office.

Cultural Activities:
- On 9/20/03, we celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with a lantern parade by the children, a performance of the holiday legend by the faculty and a party in the cafeteria. Grateful acknowledgement is made to the news planners Wendy Tong, Esther Uy and Mei Yip for their initiative and hard work and special thanks to Li Wei Choi and Sae Choi for their incredibly generous food contributions. Others who contributed in various ways include Laurie Rigelhaupt, Joyce Lim, Cindy Chan, Agnes Sarns, Frances Young, Pauline Cheng, Jason Choi, Robert Carlucci and all the teachers who performed in the show.

Parents' Association:
- Samantha Ho has joined the PA as a Vice Chair and will assist Chairpeson Laurie Rigelhaupt in the various extracurricular and parents' activities this year.
