From The Principal's Office:
- Welcome to new families for the 2009-2010 school year. Over 40 new families have joined our school community for the current year. The majority of these new students are in the Nursery - 1st Grade classes.
- Get to Know Your Children's Teachers Early in the Semester. We encourage parents to meet your children's teachers to start a dialogue about their classroom progress. Teachers are available after class to answer your questions and their contact data are published in the School Directory.
- CSSW welcomes the following new teachers to our staff: Ms. Jing Yang (1B), Mr. Yi-He Wang (4A), Ms. Shannon Sheng (4B), Ms. Yao Zhang (5B), Mr. Meng-Xiao Shi (6) and Ms. Susan Cao (10). We also welcome back to campus two of our recent CSSW graduates who are currently serving as Teaching Assistants: (Samantha Chan (Nursery) and Emily Lin (PK-A).
- The new 2009-2010 School Directory will be available soon. We have a limited quantity of last year's Directory in the School Office for those families who need contact information immediately.
- Reminder to all Students to Not Touch or Move any Items in the Edgemont H.S. Classrooms. We ask all staff and parents to help our students be good citizens and be respectful of other people's property.

Academic Activities:
- Our annual school-wide Written Composition Contest is scheduled for 11/21/09. Most students from 4th - 12th Grade will participate in this important exercise to improve their writing proficiency. The contest awards will be announced at our New Year's Ceremonies on 2/13/10.
- New Classes this Semester: 1st Period Chess class for students 5th grade and above; 3rd Period Mental Math class for K-4th grade students. Parents are encouraged to sign up for adult-oriented classes in the 2nd Period in tai chi, dance, painting and table tennis.

Cultural Activities:
- CSSW Seminars: "Test Strategies 101: Demystifying the SAT" presented by Kaplan Test Prep And Admissions, scheduled for 10/24/09 at 11:00 - 12:00 in the Parents Lounge.

Parents' Association:
- The PA Snack Bar is back! Thanks to The Parents Association Co-Chairs Summe Chan and Rose Eng, our weekly snack concession is now open. All proceeds help fund PA activities during the year.
- The Parents Orientation Meeting was held on 9/19/09. Please contact the PA Co-Chairs to get more involved in our school activities.
